Tim Paine stepped down as the captain of the Australian Test side ahead of The Ashes and has now taken a break from the game to deal with his mental health. And now, the CEO of Cricket Australia (CA), Nick Hockley has said that he would love to see Paine back in the Australian side.
Hockley also added that the head coach of the Australian side, Justin Langer has gone and visited Paine as well. Hockley further revealed that the entire Tasmanian Cricket Community has thrown its weight behind Paine.
“We want to see him back out there, playing and performing, as quickly as possible. The head coach has been down to see him, we’ve had members of our high performance set up go down to Tassie. The Tasmanian cricket community have put their arms around him,” said Hockley as quoted by NDTV.
Our job now is to support Tim Paine: Nick Hockley
Nick Hockley also said that his main job now is to ensure that Tim Paine gets all the support that he requires, and concluded by stating that he respects the wicket-keeper batter for owning up to his mistake.
“We are all very, very concerned – to make sure that Tim is well supported. A lot of respect for Tim for owning his mistake and our job now is to really support him,” concluded Hockley.
