The 15th match of IPL 2022 set action between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. Heavyweights either not being able to collect points or flaunting dismal show has been the story of the season so far. DC have also now lost two games in a row after getting defeated by LSG in the last encounter by six wickets. In the same light, Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant has regretted their show against LSG.
Pant added that the chasing team had the upper hand in the game as one can’t complain of dew but they were well short of 10-15 runs as a batting unit. He added that spinners did their job well and it was fine for them till powerplay but lost track afterward. 150 as a target seems quite doable in IPL and when Quinton de Kock started showcasing his real class, it was an easy deal for the new entrants.
“Obviously, when the dew is like that, you can’t complain. But as a batting unit, we were 10-15 runs short. We just wanted to give our 100% till the last ball of the 40th over.
The powerplay was fine but the main game changed in the middle overs: Rishabh Pant
“I think the powerplay was fine, but the main game changed in the middle overs. The spinners bowled well, but we were 10-15 runs short,” said Pant while speaking in the post-match presentation.
Batting first, DC posted only 149 runs on the board where Pant added 39* off 36 and Prithivi Shaw gave a fine start with his 34-ball 61. However, nothing substantial came from David Warner’s bat in his season opener and DC got wrapped up below 150. In return, De Kock wreaked havoc with his 80 off 52 balls before KL Rahul walked back after putting in 24 runs.
Most of the work was done by the star Protean before Krunal Pandya and Ayush Badoni unleashed some boundaries to take their side over the line.
