We will play positive cricket tonight: Suresh Raina

Fans are awaiting a mouth-watering contest as former teammates Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni prepare to face each other when their respective franchise Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiants meet tonight. It would be a contest between the former leader and his sub ordinate when the IPL debutants come against each other at Rajkot.

Suresh Raina, who leads Gujarat Lions, said that his team would play positive cricket against the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants.

Raina was part of the Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings for the past 8 seasons since the inception of the IPL before the Chennai franchise was suspended for two years. It will be for the first time that Raina will play against his ex-captain.

“We (Gujarat Lions) have started the new season with a new team on a positive note after winning the first game. And we will play positive cricket against the opposition in tomorrow’s game,” Raina told reporters at the pre-match conference.

“Gujarat Lions is a team from Gujarat and we all are excited about the crowd support for us,” he said.

Raina, however, admitted that Dhoni is a very popular cricketer in every nook and corner of the country.

“Dhoni is a cricketer, who gets support from every corner of the country but we too have some cricketers, who are popular in India and in Gujarat” he said.
