‘We'll be well-versed by the time’ – Tymal Mills reckons England players featuring in IPL will help Three Lions in T20 World Cup

The high-voltage T20 World Cup 2021 is just around the corner and all the 16 participating teams are looking determined to lift the prestigious title. England are touted one of the favorites for the competition as they have been exceptional in white-ball cricket lately. Winners of the 2019 World Cup, the Three Lions went to the finals of the T20 World Cup in 2016.

However, they lost to eventual champions West Indies in the summit clash. Nevertheless, England have only gotten better after that showpiece event and would like to get the glory in UAE. From Jos Buttler to Jonny Bairstow, the Brits side is studded with T20 stalwart. In fact, eight of the 15 players in the England squad are currently plying their trade in the UAE leg of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

With the global event also taking place in the Gulf nation, English players featuring in IPL must have been keen to assess the conditions. Weighing on the same, left-arm pacer Tymal Mills said the participation of World Cup-bound England players will profit the national team.

“One of our advantages is that we’ve got half the squad playing in the IPL at the moment. I’m sure we’ll come out of that with a bunch of information, and the analyst [Nathan Leamon] is out there with KKR. We’ll be well-prepped and well-versed by the time we get together,” Mills, who is a surprise pick in England’s T20 World Cup squad, was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“I’m sure we’ll be full of confidence and back ourselves to beat any team. The pitches look like they’ve been quite sluggish, particularly in the day games. It looks like they’re trying – particularly in Dubai – to keep the pitches with quite a bit of grass on to keep them fresh by the time the World Cup starts,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mills, who has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL, has himself played a significant amount of cricket in these conditions. Hence, he’s confident of delivering in the global event.

“I’ve played in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai a lot, so they’re three grounds I’m comfortable with. It’s nice to be going to places that I know and grounds I have a decent record at but ultimately previous records don’t really mean an awful lot,” asserted the left-arm speedster.
