The former Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has slammed the critics for thinking that the team is doing better after his departure. He took a slight dig at the critics and said that he too his happy seeing the team win matches. Earlier, Misbah and bowling coach Waqar Younis had resigned from their posts after the series against West Indies.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had thus appointed Saqlain Mushtaq as interim head coach whereas on the other hand. Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander were named as consultant coaches for the T20 World Cup 2021.
“Well done to those who think that the team has started to perform better after my departure. I am also happy to see the Pakistan team winning,” Misbah told media on the occasion of the annual match of the Muslim Gymkhana Club
When asked about the future of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez in the team, he pointed that the cricketers know what is best for them. He said, “The cricketers themselves can make a better decision regarding their future. They know better how long they can play for the national team and play their part in victories.”

Pakistan is all set to lock horns with Bangladesh in a two-match Test series starting from Friday, November 26. The Babar Azam-led side dominated the proceedings in the T20I series and will be determined to continue their winning momentum further. Opening up on the same, Misbah stated that Pakistan’s Test side is strong and that they can beat the Tigers at their home.
“The team is performing under Babar Azam’s captaincy while Saqlain Mushtaq is managing the players really well. Our Test side is strong and can beat Bangladesh at their home,” Misbah added.
However, Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam has also pinned his hopes on the team to perform well. He had said, “We are constantly playing white ball, and getting into Test mode will be a challenge. There is not much time to prepare after the T20 series, but those coming from Pakistan were playing domestic games. We have quite a settled side now with a lot of experience, we will make an impact in this WTC as our team has been consistent since the start of this year.”
