Went to learn dance during the lockdown and there I met my to-be wife Dhanashree Verma: Yuzvendra Chahal
At the time when the entire cricket scenario was at a halt, several players including Chahal had resorted to social media platforms.
After staying away from the sport for many months, many Indian stars including Yuzvendra Chahal will be making their return through the much-awaited IPL 2020. Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the thirteenth edition of the IPL has been shifted to the UAE and is scheduled to commence from September 19th.
Chahal, who plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament, has established himself as skipper Virat Kohli’s go-to bowlers. The leg-spinner had also finished the last IPL edition as RCB’s highest wicket-taker with 18 scalps to his name.
At the time when the entire cricket scenario was at a halt, several players including Chahal had resorted to social media platforms. To keep fans engaged, several players had dished out clips, photos and Q&A sessions during the national lockdown. Chahal was apparently all over the internet because of his hilarious TikTok videos.
The roka was the only positive experience I had during lockdown: Yuzvendra Chahal
Apart from David Warner, Chahal was one of the players who were significantly active on TikTok during the lockdown period. But the lockdown didn’t confine to TikTok for Chahal as he also announced his engagement in August. Chahal revealed that he met his to-be wife, Dhanashree Verma during a dance class he attended during the lockdown.
“The roka was the only positive experience I had this lockdown (laughs). To kill time, I went to learn dance and there I met my to-be wife. She is a choreographer,” Chahal told Indian Express.
30-year-old Chahal also opened up that he felt ‘strange’ when he went out to bowl for the first time after resuming training. “I felt a bit strange, ajeeb, when I went to bowl after such a long lay-off. I bowled some four to five overs, sometimes there was a feeling that I have forgotten my bowling run-up, but luckily things didn’t go too bad for me,” Chahal pointed out.
“Obviously, I had a few doubts because I was bowling after a gap of four months. In the past, even when you are injured, at least you can go to the ground. This has been a rare instance when we came to the ground after a gap of four months. I was wondering how will my body react to bowling,” added the leg-spinner.
