We're in discussions with South Africa for a T20I series, confirms PCB CEO Wasim Khan
Meanwhile, Pakistan have taken full command in the ongoing Test against Bangladesh.
Wasim Khan, CEO of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has reiterated that the board is in discussion with its South African counterpart for a T20I series in Pakistan next month. After hosting games in UAE for nearly a decade, Pakistan have finally managed to resume international cricket at home and are now taking all possible measures to invite the big teams.
Things have improved by leaps and bounds for Pakistan in recent times. In December, they hosted their first Test in Pakistan since 2009 when the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by militants. Pakistan hosted Sri Lanka for a T20I and ODI series in October before playing a two-match Test series against them in December.
As of now, they are hosting Bangladesh for a two-match Test series. Both the teams have already played the T20I series which Pakistan won 3-0. Both the teams are now currently busy playing the first Test in Rawalpindi. And as things are showing signs of improvement, Wasim Khan has confirmed that Pakistan are trying to host South Africa too for a short T20I series next month.
The Proteas will be in India for an ODI series next month. They will play three ODIs which ends on March 18 and Pakistan are hopeful of starting the T20I series on March 24, just two days after the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League.
“We’re in discussions with South Africa to come to Pakistan, their Board has signed it off & they’re keen to support Pakistan cricket. They finish in India 18th March & PSL finishes on 22 March so we could have them in Pakistan on 24 March playing the 1st T20I,” Wasim Khan was quoted as saying by Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq in his tweet.
Pakistan in command in the ongoing Test
Meanwhile, Pakistan have taken full command in the ongoing Test against Bangladesh. A Naseem Shah hat-trick has put them on the verge of a big win. At the end of day three, Bangladesh were reeling at 126 for 6, still trailing Pakistan’s first innings total of 445 by 86 runs. Bangladesh were all out for just 233 in their first innings.
