West Indies A vs India, Warm-up Match – Venue, Squads, Match Timings and Live Streaming Details
The Test series will begin on August 22.
Team India is yet to lose a game on its West Indies. They whitewashed the hosts in the three-match T20I series and then went on to win the rain-marred One-Day International series by 2-0. The sternest test of the Virat Kohli-led will start now as they embark on their ICC Test Championship journey. India is the World number 1 side in the format but they cannot undermine the Windies by any means.
Moreover, the pitches are fast and bouncy over the last 12 months in the Caribbean islands and many must not have forgotten the way they defeated England at home earlier this year. The visitors are scheduled to play a three-day practice match before the actual two-match Test series gets underway.
The skipper Virat Kohli who smashed two consecutive centuries in the ODI series is expected to skip this game due to his thumb injury. He was hit on the thumb by Kemar Roach during the third and final 50-over game. However, he had denied any serious injury and hoped to be available for selection in the series opener on August 22.
Test specialists return for India
India have a lot of Test specialists coming in for this series. They have enjoyed a fair amount of time away from international cricket as India last played a Test back in January in Australia. The likes of Ravi Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara will be looking to spend some time in the middle during the practice game.
For the hosts, John Campbell and Darren Bravo are playing and their performance will be scrutinised as they are part of the Test squad for the series as well.
