The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan has stated that the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has agreed to play the proposed day-night Test against Pakistan in the UAE during West Indies’ tour to UAE in September.
He said that he has not read the letter from the WICB yet, but affirmed that the day-night Test has been given the green signal by the West Indian board. ”I haven’t seen their letter as yet but yes apparently they have said yes to playing one day and night test with the pink ball in the UAE,” he said.
If the Test is played, the match would be the first day-night Test for both Pakistan and West Indies. The tour is slated to have 5 ODIs, 2 T20Is and 2 Tests, one of which is proposed to be a day-night Test.
Pakistan is keen on playing the match under lights in order to aid their preparation for their scheduled pink-ball Test against Australia in Brisbane in December.
Speaking on the return of the three tainted players Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt, Shaharyar Khan said that the three are unlikely for the tour to England. However, he admitted that the authorities might take a lenient stance on Amir but the other two will need a lot of clearances.
”But let us wait and see. First let the national team be selected for England and see if they are selected. Only then can we cross the bridge,” the PCB chairman quoted speaking on the tainted trio.
