Team India takes on West Indies in the 1st T20I of the two-match series at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill. This is the 325th occasion when MS Dhoni is leading a team in international cricket. In his pitch report, Ian Bishop said, “It’s warm with the sun out, not too many threatening clouds at the moment. There is some forecast for later in the afternoon, but hopefully we’ll be done by the time the rain comes. There was some CPL cricket not that long ago. The scores here generally were on the higher end. The surface looks hard and it should come on nicely for the batsmen. 170 is the average score here batting first. Not sure about turn though. Overall, we are set up for a fantastic cricket of T20 cricket,”
MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first. Dhoni said: “We will bowl first. We had a decent preparation. The boys from the Test series had a good build-up, only me and Bumrah did not have much of a practice. It’s a good challenge. We always felt this is abig market because of the Asian community here. The facility here is also very good. It’s a great venue and good to come here and play cricket.”
On being asked to bat first the new West Indies skipper Carlos Brathwaite said: “The fans expect us to play good cricket and continue our good show from the World T20. Few of the guys had CPL experience today. Chris Gayle and Jason Holder are not playing.”
