Axar Patel’s heroics with the bat in the second match helped team India in winning their 12th successive ODI series against West Indies. The all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 64 off just 35 with the help of three fours and five maximums to chase down the target of 312 in 49.4 overs as the Men in Blue sealed the deal by two wickets. The third and final game of the series is set to take place on July 27th, 2022 at the same venue as the previous encounters in Trinidad.
Speaking more of the last clash, West Indian wicketkeeper batter Shai Hope marked his special occasion of the 100th ODI by slamming a magnificent century. He played a knock of 115 off 135 which included eight fours and three sixes. Skipper Nicholas Pooran also joined the party and scored 74 off 77 as the Caribbean side reached a total of above 300 runs.
For the visitors, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, and Axar all smacked the half-centuries as the Men in Blue took an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series. Ahead of the dead rubber, Shikhar Dhawan and his team will look to inflict a whitewash on the Caribbean side and extent their sheer dominance over them. Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who are warming the bench might get a chance in the Playing XI. The home would hope for a consolation victory before the start of the five-match T20I series.
