West Indies vs Pakistan: Mohammad Rizwan takes a stunning catch to dismiss Jomel Warrican
The fine-leg fielder was in a position to catch the ball, but Rizwan tried to take the catch all by himself.
Pakistan lost the opening Test against West Indies by one wicket to fall 0-1 down in the two-match series. The game had several jaw-dropping moments, one of which was Mohammad Rizwan’s catch to get rid of Jomel Warrican in the dying stages of the match.
Hasan Ali bowled a short-pitched delivery and the batter tried to pull the ball away only to get a top-edge. The fine-leg fielder was in a position to catch the ball, but Rizwan tried to take the catch all by himself.
He almost ran to the fine-led boundary and got hold of the leather. Rizwan had to churn out a full-length dive. His teammates, on the field and in the dugout, were over the moon after he took the catch. Rizwan failed with the bat but managed to hog the limelight with his fielding.

After the dismissal, Kemar Roach’s 30 helped the home team chase down 168. Amidst the flurry of wickets, Roach held his nerve under immense pressure. Jayden Seales became the Player of the Match for becoming the youngest Caribbean bowler to get a five-wicket haul.
Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper, was happy with the team’s batting but said that lack of momentum cost them big time. He stated that due to movement off the surface, batting wasn’t an easy task in the second innings.
“This is the beauty of Test cricket. We did well with batting, but we didn’t carry on with the momentum in the first innings. The bowlers did well, and then again we lost momentum with quick wickets in the second innings. It was difficult to score, it was swinging and seaming, the outfield was slow, and their bowlers bowled in the channel,” Babar was quoted as saying after the match.
“We were patient and wanted to build a partnership. Hasan, Shaheen, and Abbas were good throughout, and we took our catches, but we did drop two in the final session which might have made the difference,” he added.
The second Test is set to get underway on Friday, August 20 at the same venue. Pakistan would be looking to stage a comeback after a loss in the first game of the series.
