The West Indies team will travel to Pakistan for a series of 3 T20I games later this year. According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reached an agreement with Cricket West Indies over the T20I series on Monday. That after the government accepted to provide president level security to the players who will travel with the World XI side.

It was earlier said that Sri Lanka will also play Pakistan in a one-off or two T20Is in the month of September or October. The final dates are yet to be fixed for both the series. Sri Lanka will be the first major team to visit Pakistan since the terror attack way back in 2009. An attack in which the Sri Lankan team bus was at the receiving end, with the terrorists attacking the bus.

Sri Lanka Cricket chief Thilanga Sumathipala said, “We have had our security experts visit and make an assessment, and things look positive with things improving all over the country and especially Lahore being cleared,” Sumathipala was quoted as saying in a statement on the sidelines of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Colombo over the weekend.

“We have three T20 games coming up against Pakistan in September and we would like to play at least one of those games in Lahore,” he added.

Zimbabwe toured in 2015

Zimbabwe were the only team to play in Pakistan in the last 8 years. They went to the country in 2015 to play an ODI series. The hosts won the series pretty comfortably. The other positive was Lahore hosting the PSL final earlier this year. The green brigade will also take part in two day/night Test matches, five ODIs and 2 T20Is against Sri Lanka in Dubai this winter.

This comes in as a great news for the cricket fans back in Pakistan who have been longing for a series at home. The Pakistan team will look to put up a great effort as cricket coming back to the nation is an encouraging sign in the times to come.
