'We've been waiting to play at the Wankhede stadium' - Khaleel Ahmed ahead of RCB game in IPL 2022

The JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals franchise will be looking to continue their brilliant form when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their fifth match of the IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, 16 April 2022.

Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed expressed his excitement about playing at the Wankhede Stadium for the first time this season. He also felt that the bowlers can utilise the new ball well as it swings a fair bit at the venue at the start of the game.

“The ball swings at the Wankhede Stadium and therefore we have been waiting to play there. We are excited and hopefully, we can utilize the conditions, swing the ball well and take wickets,” Khaleel said.

Speaking about the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, the fast bowler admitted that it will be a challenge for him and the bowlers as they have pretty good batters through their line-up. “The Royal Challengers Bangalore are a good team and it’s enjoyable to play against a good team. It’s going to be challenging for us as they have good batters. But I am excited about facing the challenge,” Khaleel added.

Khaleel not worried about the long break

Ahmed also spoke about the long break the Delhi Capitals have had before their next match. However, he is not worried about the break as the team has trained well and reckoned that the break was good for the fast bowlers to recover. “Our preparations are going on very well. We’ve had a long break so it’s been good for fast bowlers as we need more rest. We’ve had some sessions in the swimming pool and training sessions in the gym in the last few days.”

Meanwhile, DC are at the second position in the points table with two wins and as many losses in four outings so far. Having recovered well during the break, they will be hoping to get on a roll in order to make it to the playoffs.
