The Australian cricket has undergone through a lot since the ball-tampering controversy erupted in March this year. It was followed by bans being handed over to the likes of David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft. Coach Darren Lehmann also stepped down immediately while CEO James Sutherland gave his resignation recently.

During a grade cricket game, both Warner and Smith came face to face on the field after a considerable period. Contrary to the rumours floating in various sections of the media, both were seen sharing good chemistry with each other. Warner laughed off to all the reports citing a rift between them. He further looked forward to playing the World Cup next year.

The long term goal is to get back in the Baggy Green and play the World Cup

Recently, the Australian Cricketers Association demanded a reduction in their bans with immediate effect. They felt that the cricketers had already undergone through a lot financially as well as career wise. However, David Warner didn’t have that in mind as he looked forward to representing Australia again after completing his one year ban and play the World Cup.

“At the end of the day I’m sitting here 12 months on the sideline, that’s my take on it. The end result and the long-form goal is to get back in the Baggy Green and play the World Cup next year. But it’s a game at a time.” David Warner was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au.

We’re trying to get the Australian fans back to loving the game

Warner termed the events that transpired in Cape Town as disappointing and felt ashamed for the same. The 32 year stated that they were here to promote the game. Further speaking about the current woes of the Australian side, Warner asserted that the boys were capable and yesterday’s victory was a good sign.

“What happened was very disappointing, we are ashamed of what happened. But we’re here to try and promote cricket and it’s a fun game and we’re trying to get Australians back loving it. That’s the hardest thing with the team at the moment, but they had a tough win last night. To be positive and try and pump the boys up is the most important thing from where we sit right now,” he said.
