Indian fans might have been missing Virat Kohli from the action in the ongoing Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but the world’s best batsman will not keep them waiting for long. The 29-year-old, who completed a decade in international cricket this year, is all set to feature on the silver screen and the news has left his fans pleasantly surprised. Known to be a bold chaser, is Kohli now aiming to match his actress wife Anushka Sharma on the screen?
Kohli, who has been rested for the Asia Cup in the wake of a gruelling tour of England where he excelled but not his team, shared a poster of a movie titled Trailer: The Movie on his Instagram handle and added the caption: “Another debut after 10 years, can’t wait!” His fans congratulated the ace cricketer on his new venture. The poster gave an impression that the Indian captain is portraying the role of a superhero.
What if India play Asia Cup final on the same day?
The post received over 11 lakh likes at the time of writing this report. The film is set to release on September 28, the day the final of the Asia Cup will also be played. It will be interesting to see who the viewers prefer more on that day: Kohli the actor or Rohit Sharma’s India given the Men in Blue qualify for the title clash and take on, say, Pakistan in the title round?
Also, Sharma’s film ‘Sui Dhaaga’ also starring actor Varun Dhawan is set to release on the same date. Cricket and Bollywood perhaps had little such clashes in the history of independent India.
There have been instances of cricketers with actor wife acting in Bollywood films. In the 1990s, former Pakistani batsman Mohsin Khan, who married Indian actress Reena Roy, was seen in Bollywood film like ‘Saathi’.
Kohli and Sharma tied the knot in a grand marriage which was held in Italy in December last year. The power couple is known to public own their affection and also take strong stands on social issues.
