What makes MS Dhoni a strong 'brand'? Pragyan Ojha explains
Despite CSK's dismal display in IPL 2020, the brand MS Dhoni is going on too strong.
It is a well-known fact that three-time champions Chennai Super Kings are not faring well in this season of the Indian Premier League. Despite their six losses so far, the Brand MS Dhoni is going quite strong in the cricket world. He walked up the field of cricket after 14 long months, and fans remained on edge of their seats to get his glimpse. The fact that he has bowed out of the international cricket made this season of IPL all the more special for his fans.
CSK are currently struggling at the seventh position in the points table, but whenever there is a match coming up for CSK, fans go mad all over again. In the same light, former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha has come with strong views on MS Dhoni. He opines that ‘Brand MS Dhoni’ will remain rock hard despite the dismal performance of the Yellow Army. Youngsters lining up after the match to get some guidance from him speak volumes about his legacy.
“For me, brand Dhoni is… once the game is over, look at the youngsters coming and standing next to Dhoni and talking to him. See, that is for me is what makes MS Dhoni different from others. A minimum of 5-6 youngsters going and picking his brains. That nobody can replace. That’s one of the reasons I adore him,” said Ojha while speaking to Sports Today.
MS Dhoni’s CSK can still dream of playoffs
CSK can still qualify for playoffs given they spark a turnaround right from their next match against Rajasthan Royals. MS Dhoni and his men will at least have to bag victory in four out of their remaining five matches to remain strong contenders for landing in the top four. However, their chances will also depend on the performance of other teams, and net run-rate will definitely come into play. Two steams standing with the same points are decided based on better NRR for playoffs.
In their next match, it is highly expected that Imran Tahir will find a place in playing XI of the team. The Purple Cap holder of 2019 will be a crucial figure for the team as wickets have started turning in UAE now.
