Whatever Mahi bhai tells me to do, I do it blindly: Kedar Jadhav
Jadhav's 141-run stand with Dhoni won the Hyderabad ODI for India.
The Indian top three have been fabulous over the last few years. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have dominated world cricket with the bat and have been nearly invincible. However, there has been a tendency of the batting falling apart when the top three don’t fire. The middle-order has always been under the scanner. But India will be pleased with the way things have gone this year.
The top three haven’t been as consistent like the previous years and it is the middle-order that has bailed them out of tricky situations on multiple occasions. In the first ODI against Australia in Hyderabad, India were reduced to 99/4 in their chase of 237. Kedar Jadhav joined forces with MS Dhoni and formed an excellent partnership (141 runs) to take India home with 10 balls to spare.
This was the second time this year that the duo has taken India home from a tight situation. They did something similar in the series decider in Melbourne in January. Jadhav was the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 81 and figures of 1/31 with the ball. He highlighted the importance of Dhoni in his appearance on Chahal TV.
When Yuzvendra Chahal asked him about his running between the wickets with MS Dhoni, Jadhav replied, “I have said this earlier as well that whatever Mahi bhai tells me to do, I do it blindly and become successful.”
Kohli all praise for Dhoni and Jadhav
India were in a precarious position in the run-chase. They had lost three wickets for 19 runs in the space of about 40 deliveries. However, skipper Virat Kohli was happy that the team was in that situation and the middle-order could bail them out and lead them to a win. He loved the way both MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav took responsibility.
“You have experience with MS and flair with Kedar who is also experienced now. That p’ship was outstanding and it was more or less a complete performance. At 99/3, I was speaking to Ravi bhai, and I said this is good. These guys have to do it and they have to get us across the line. The way Kedar and MS took responsibility, it was great to see,” Kohli was quoted saying in the post-match presentation.
