England Women were dominant in the opening T20I against India Women on Friday, July 9 at the County Ground in Northampton. Heather Knight and Co won by 18 runs (D/L Method) after rain interrupted the game.
Moreover, the hosts also took a crucial 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Natalie Sciver turned up with a stupendous all-round performance with both bat and ball. The second T20I is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 11 at the County Ground in Hove.
The match is a must-win affair for the Women in Blue if they have to avoid back-to-back series losses on English soil. The English batting looked dominating from the outset and never allowed the Indian bowlers to settle into a rhythm.
Apart from Sciver, Amy Jones also looked at her best. As far as India are concerned, they will be looking for early breakthroughs to make early inroads into the opposition batting.

England Women
England Women won’t want to make a change after their incredible outing. Tammy Beaumont looked a tad rusty and she’ll be looking to up the ante in the next match.
Heather Knight tasted failure last time with the bat and she would be keen to get some runs under her belt next time. Sciver played at a strike rate in excess of 200 and she also managed to pick one wicket.
Jones lent her decent support before getting out to a superb catch from Harleen Deol. Among their bowlers, Sarah Glenn, Sophie Ecclestone, and Sciver got a wicket each. The others have been reasonable.
Predicted XI
Danielle Wyatt, Tammy Beaumont, Heather Knight (C), Natalie Sciver, Amy Jones (wk), Sophia Dunkley, Mady Villiers, Katherine Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn, Freya Davies
Bench: Natasha Farrant, Fran Wilson, Anya Shrubsole
India Women
India are likely to alter their lineup after the previous game. Arundhati Reddy went for 31 runs in her three overs. She might make way for Pooja Vastrakar in the next encounter.
Deepti Sharma went for 38 runs without picking up a wicket and being a lead spinner, she has to be on top of her game. Harmanpreet Kaur’s form with the bat is a matter of concern as well.
The onus will again be on the experienced Shikha Pandey to deliver. Shafali Verma bagged a duck in Northampton and she’d want to get her rhythm back. Smriti Mandhana looked good last time and she has to take responsibility.
Predicted XI
Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Pooja Vastrakar/Arundhati Reddy, Sneh Rana, Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav
Bench: Arundhati Reddy/Pooja Vastrakar, Simran Bahadur, Ekta Bisht, Indrani Roy, Taniya Bhatia, Jemimah Rodrigues
