Pakistan and West Indies have faced each other in only two completed matches and they are set to play the final game on the tour starting from August 20. Rain dominated the proceedings but it stayed clear for most of the four days of the first Test which was no less than a thriller. West Indies, thanks to Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales, won by one wicket to take an unassailable lead in the series and also open their World Test Championship account early in the cycle.

Pakistan, on the other hand, were exceptional in their defence of 167 but their fielders let them down big time. When they reduced West Indies to 114/7, the hosts had no business to even get close on that surface. But that is how Pakistan play, they are unpredictable. The visitors though will have to pull off a win in this Test as away wins are crucial to make it to the final of the WTC.

Sabina Park will once again host the second Test and expect no favours to the touring party. The pitch will definitely have a lot in it for the pace bowlers and both the sides might field an all-pace attack. Spinners from both teams bowled a combined 41 wicketless overs (out of total 300.2 overs) and looked largely ineffective. The specialist spinners, Yasir Shah and Jomel Warrican, might not feature in this match.

Rain threat continues to stay on this Test as well but expect a full day’s play at least on Day 1. It will be a result-oriented pitch again and even if it rains, enough play can happen to determine the winner.

Playing Combinations for WI vs PAK

West Indies

There is no reason for West Indies to make changes to their side. But Jomel Warrican might have sit out given the nature of the surface and one of Alzarri Joseph or Chemar Holder might get a game. Joseph could be preferred given his lower-order batting skills. Also Kierran Powell didn’t looked like he belonged to this level which might pave the way for Shai Hope to prove his credentials in Tests once again.

Probable Playing XI: Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope/Kierran Powell, Nkrumah Bonner, Kyle Mayers, Roston Chase, Jermaine Blackwood, Joshua Da Silva (WK), Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales.

Pakistan

Yasir Shah bowled only 16 overs in the first Test and didn’t pick up a wicket. His batting credentials also were of no use and he could sit out given the conditions on offer. Another express pacer Naseem Shah can get an opportunity in this Test. The visitors are likely to stick to the rest of the batting line-up despite them not firing in the opener.

Probable Playing XI: Abid Ali, Imran Butt, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam (C), Fawad Alam, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Faheem Ashraf, Yasir Shah/Naseem Shah, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Abbas, Shaheen Afridi.
