'When will your hatred towards Pakistan end?' - Fans slam ICC for not naming Babar Azam as the Player of the Tournament

Right. So, Australia won the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup defeating New Zealand with 8 wickets to spare in the final. But then, another issue has hogged the spotlight. And this is, David Warner, winning the Player of the Tournament award.

Many experts and fans feel that instead of Warner, Pakistan batting superstar Babar Azam should have been named as the Player of the Tournament. And, a comparison of the numbers that both men generated with the willow throws further light into the matter as well.

Babar Azam emerged as the leading run-scorer in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup and plundered 303 runs at an average of 60.60. The Pakistan skipper also scored 4 fifties in the tournament as well.

On the other hand, David Warner scored 289 runs in the 7 innings that he batted in the tournament, and scored his runs at an average of 48.17. Warner amassed 3 fifties with the bat in hand.

Cricketing fraternity unhappy with Babar Azam not winning the Player of the Tournament award

And, several fans and cricketers are not happy with the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) decision to award David Warner as the Player of the Tournament ahead of Babar Azam. Pakistan pace bowling legend Shoaib Akhtar tweeted that the decision to name Warner as the Player of the Tournament was unfair, and the award should have been won by Azam.

Another fan tweeted that no cricketer deserved the Player of the Tournament award more than Azam. Another fan even tweeted that it was a disgusting decision taken by the ICC to award the Player of the Tournament award to Warner ahead of Azam. Another fan even went to the extent of tweeting that it was a conspiracy that took place, and India played a role in Babar Azam not getting the Player of the Tournament award.
