Jos Buttler reveals a hilarious story involving AB de Villiers during IPL
Jos Buttler, who was bought by Rajasthan Royals in 2018 said that while he was playing for Mumbai Indians, he came to know a bit about AB de Villiers. As per the 29-year-old gloveman, the former Proteas batsman said that he will catch up with him for a beer after the game.
Buttler recited that it was a big moment for him as a player to have a beer with his idol. He told his wife that they are going straight to the bar. Buttler added that he chatted with De Villiers for about 20 minutes. After a few minutes, Buttler’s wife asked AB de in which part of New Zealand he lives. And, that was the moment when Buttler felt embarrassed.
“Got to know him a little bit during the IPL actually when I was at Mumbai (Indians). Just at the start of the game, he said I will catch up with you for a beer at the hotel after the game. I was like so excited. I was like so cool getting to drink a beer with AB de Villiers. I got back to the hotel told my fiance at that time (now wife) we are going to go straight to the bar,” Jos Buttler said in Rajasthan Royals podcast.
“AB de Villiers will be there for a drink, this is going to be awesome. We probably chatted for 20 minutes, having a great time I am loving it and he has got a pretty strong Afrikaans accent. About 20 minutes into the conversation, Louise (Buttler’s fiancee) asks AB ‘which part of New Zealand are you from?’ and that just absolutely killed me,” the 29-year old added.
