Mumbai Indians suffered a three-wicket loss to arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2022 encounter at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 21. This was MI’s seventh straight defeat in the ongoing season which has now made their playoff hopes seemingly impossible. After being asked to bat first by CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja, MI’s top and middle-order failed to show much resistance, and an unbeaten 43-ball 51 from Tilak Varma helped them in posting a competitive total of 155/7.

As Mumbai looked to earn their first two points, they decided to three changes in their Playing XI with two of them being debutants. Among those promising newcomers who impressed the most was a promising bowler named Hrithik Shokeen. He was given a chance to prove his mettle in this eagerly awaited clash ahead of leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin

Despite being roped in ahead of the seasoned player, the young Shokeen showcased a spectacular performance and was really impressive during his debut. He did not pick up a wicket was very economical with the ball in hand as the emerging spinner conceded just 23 runs from his four overs. He kept the run-flow in check during his first spell and did not allow the CSK batters to score at a brisk rate.

Even in his final over he only gave away 10 runs which was a good effort by a debutant bowling in the high-pressure middle overs to finish with 23 runs from his quota of fours overs at an economy rate of 5.8.

Meanwhile, let’s look at a few facts about Hrithik Shokeen:

1. Hrithik Shokeen was born on August 14, 2000.

2. Shokeen plays for Delhi in the domestic circuit and has so far represented his state team in eight List A matches, having bagged as many wickets.
