'Who is sexier: MS Dhoni or Faf du Plessis?' - Imran Tahir gives a 'smart' response
Tahir also dished out his opinion over the 'Mankad' rule. According to Tahir, he wouldn't mind if the bowler has already given a batsman a clear warning.
Despite being in the latter stage of his career, South Africa’s Imran Tahir is still regarded as one of the most dangerous bowlers in the shortest format. The 41-year-old has plied his trade in domestic T20 leagues all across the globe. The Lahore-born bowler is equipped with the ‘googly’ in his arsenal and he last braced the field in PSL 2020 while donning the Multan Sultans jersey.
Imran Tahir’s exemplary T20I record proves his expertise in the shorter format of the game. In 38 T20Is matches for the Proteas, the leg-break bowler has scalped 63 wickets which include 2 five-wicket hauls.
In a recent interaction with ESPNCricinfo, when Tahir was asked to name his favourite South African cricketer of all-time, he picked Hashim Amla. Tahir, along with Amla and JP Duminy bid adieu to ODI cricket after the culmination of 2019 World Cup.
Furthermore, Tahir was also asked “Who’ sexier: MS Dhoni or Faf du Plessis?” Responding to the question, Tahir said– “It’s a tough one…they both are cool and smart.”
Tahir has played under Du Plessis ever since the latter was appointed as the Proteas skipper after AB de Villiers stepped down from the role. Similarly, Tahir has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings squad since their comeback in the Indian Premier League in 2018.
Imran Tahir also express his thoughts over ‘Mankad’ rule
Tahir also dished out his opinion over the ‘Mankad’ rule. According to Tahir, he wouldn’t mind if the bowler has already given a batsman a clear warning. Over the years, the ‘Mankad’ mode of dismissal has left the world divided into two segments. One part feels that the dismissal is unethical but the other part believes that it’s not against the rules of the game.
In the previous edition of the IPL, Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was bashed a lot on social media after he ‘mankaded’ Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler in a game.
“See, I don’t mind it if the bowler has given the batsman a clear warning. If after the warning, the batsman is doing it, again and again, I think it’s only fair to Mankad him”, the Proteas veteran said.
