Despite the Royal Challengers Bangalore ending up on the losing side against the Chennai Super Kings, the Faf du Plessis-led side has unearthed an excellent talent in the IPL. Suyash Prabhudessai replaced Harshal Patel in the playing XI and made the best use of the opportunity to shine on the biggest of stages. The right-hander, who plays for Goa in the domestic tournaments, was handed his maiden IPL cap and he immediately was in the action with a terrific run out to send back Moeen Ali.
Prabhudessai was fielding in the point region when Moeen played a cut shot into the gap between the short third man and point region. The 24-year-old dived in the air to stop a boundary and effected a run-out as well at the batting crease with a bullet throw to the wicketkeeper. Apart from that, Prabhudessai was quite brilliant in the field and had caught the eyes of the commentators who were in awe of his supreme fielding skills.
Coming in to bat at number six, Prabhudessai had a big job on his hands with a daunting target, and he was quite aware of the increasing required run rate. He managed to play an excellent knock of 34 off just 18 deliveries at a strike rate of 188.89 and kept his side in the hunt with a crucial partnership with Shahbaz Ahmed for the fifth wicket. He hit five fours and a six in his quickfire innings and he would rather be delighted with his own performance on his IPL debut even if it did not help his side to victory.
