Why RCB wear green jersey every IPL season? Full reason & match records explained
This special jersey hasn’t really wielded great results for RCB.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will ditch their regular red and black attire and sport a green jersey during the clash Rajasthan Royals on Sunday (April 13, 2025). Since 2011, the Bengaluru-based team has been donning the green jersey once a season to raise awareness about a greener and more sustainable environment as a part of the franchise’s ‘Go Green’ initiative.
Notably, in IPL 2021, RCB sported a blue kit, paying tribute to the frontline workers for their sacrifice and efforts during the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. RCB are now back with the green kit and the players would be raring to make a mark in the special jersey.
Speaking on the initiative, Rajesh Menon, COO, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, said: “For us it is about being bold, both on and off the pitch. Our green jerseys are more than just a symbol; they are a call to action. As proud representatives of the Garden City, sustainability is a natural priority for us. Through this initiative, we aim to leverage the cultural and social power of RCB to drive awareness and inspire fans to take small steps towards conservation.”
Meanwhile, the special jersey has not really wielded great results for Bangalore and numbers narrate the entire story. So far, the side has won just four of their 14 games in green while a clash got washed out due to rain.
Here’s how RCB has fared in green jersey:
