The much-awaited movie of the year is finally out after months of promotion across various spheres in the country and around the globe. Sachin Tendulkar and co. have left no stone unturned to let everyone know about his biopic whose trailer was first released during the Indian Premier League this season.

Sachin Tendulkar in various promotional events claimed about the disclosure of few unknown aspects of his life coupled with some extraordinary experiences in the biopic. However, after watching the two hours and twenty minutes long movie, some of you may come out of the theaters with mixed feelings of joy and disappointments.

Not that the movie is poorly directed or moderately screen played, the movie skipped emphasizing on few notable parts in the cricketing career of the legend in an attempt to glorify the feats of Master Blaster. Also, the fact that the biopic lacked freshness, undisclosed facts, and experience of Sachin- the cricketer as well as the person, would disappoint the masses too.

Familiarity with Sachin Tendulkar

In other words, just because the personality is well renowned and every part of his life has been scrutinized in the past, the movie became predictable after a point of time. One cannot blame the film-maker about it but the very fact the protagonist is one of the most iconic personalities in the country, backfired somewhat. The movie lacked a suspense factor which would intrigue the audience.

Understatement of Match-Fixing Agenda

The biopic did not emphasize on the low points in his career for e.g. the match-fixing scandal and captaincy agenda. Many flocked to the theaters to know about Tendulkar’s take on the whole fiasco. Much like in the 2000s, Sachin remained mute about the whole incident citing lack of knowledge about it.

Much had been talked back in the day about the Sachin-Azhar rivalry which apparently created a polarization in the team when Sachin Tendulkar took over the captaincy. The director did not oblige to throw much light on the incident. Also, Sachin did not reveal much about the reasons which forced him to quit captaincy the second time around.

Thematically incorrect

The entire movie was set up in a backdrop of narratively based story-telling. Yet again, it was the absence of Sachin Tendulkar’s insight into the ordeals which vaporized the soul of the movie. There lies a difference between narrating what exactly happened and how exactly it happened.

Having said all that, the movie covered all the important aspects of his life as well as Indian Cricket since the 1983 World Cup. Many had goosebumps witnessing some of the scenes and walked away with a tear or two in their eyes, reminiscing about the contributions of the champion player and his dreams. It’s a joy to watch this biopic with hundreds of cricket-crazy fans applauding every shot the master plays, along with moving accounts from his colleagues and family. A must watch for everyone.
