During the third T20I between West Indies and India, batter Rohit Sharma walked off the field during mid-innings as he looked in discomfort. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later confirmed that the India skipper has a back spasm. He faced only five balls, scoring 11 runs, before he was taken off the field in the second over at Warner Park, St. Kitts & Nevis on August 2, Tuesday.

Earlier in the match, India won the toss and put the hosts in to bat first. Opening batter Kyle Mayers was the top scorer with 73 runs off 50 balls, and Rovman Powell, at number four, contributed in the middle with 23 runs off 14 balls. West Indies finished with 164 for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.

Here’s BCCI’s tweet:

Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar star with the ball

The pick of the Indian bowlers was Hardik Pandya, who conceded only 19 runs in four overs and picked up the wicket of opening batter Brandon King. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up the wickets of Mayers and Windies skipper Nicholas Pooran, and conceded 35 runs in four overs.

The series, as of now, is all square at 1-1, as the visitors won the opening game and West Indies won the second. It was a comprehensive victory for the Men in Blue in the first T20I, after putting up a total of 190 on the board, courtesy of a fifty from Rohit and a quickfire finish from Dinesh Karthik. West Indies, in reply, only managed to put up 122 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

In the second T20I, India batted first yet again and managed to gather just 138 runs. Fast bowler Obed McCoy starred with the ball, bagging six wickets for 17 runs with a maiden over. Pandya top-scored for India with a run-a-ball 31 runs. However, it was not enough as the Windies chased it down with five wickets in hand and four balls to spare. King was the top scorer with 68 runs off 52 balls, and McCoy was named the Player of the Match for his performance with the ball.
