India’s wicket-keeping batsman, Wriddhimann Saha has appreciated the atmosphere in India’s dressing room claiming it to be a happy place to be in.
Saha told reporters, “The dressing room atmosphere with the Indian team is better than what it is here with Bengal and in form of club cricket you can say.”
Saha played a very crucial role in India’s 3-0 victory over the Kiwis scoring twin fifties in the second test under critical circumstances and also winning the man-of-the-match award for that. After the test series, Saha was replaced by the evergreen MS Dhoni for the ODI series. Saha used up his time by playing a Ranji Trophy game for Bengal where Bengal defeated Railways by 43 runs. Saha drew a comparison of India’s dressing with the dressing room of Bengal stating,” Like it is very serious here (with the Bengal team), it’s not like that when I am with Team India. ”
On being asked about the availability of the chief coach Anil Kumble to help the youngsters in the dressing room, Saha lauded the leg-spinner’s sense of humour answering: “He is always willing to guide you. He has a sense of humour and that reflects in the dressing room which is so relaxed.” Along with coach, Saha also praised the captain saying: “We have won two Test series on the trot so everything is going well as far as (captain) Virat (Kohli) and Anil bhai is concerned.”
Saha was with the Bengal team meeting Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Sourav Ganguly to celebrate Bengal’s victory in consecutive Ranji games and talked about various topics such as sledging and batsmanship. Saha mentioned that India isn’t a side that practices much of deleting saying, “Well if you react they do it more. That’s the plan. We didn’t sledge against New Zealand. England and Australia like to sledge and we know that.”
Saha also mentioned that, “Every batsman has his own approach. Some score few runs playing a lot of balls and some cannot survive a lot of balls. I like to play a lot of balls when I am batting.”
Saha did not name any English players India need to be careful about in the test series but did reply to the question saying that at home, India are clear favourites.
