Veteran Windies cricketer Darren Sammy is a globe trotter when it comes to playing T20 leagues across the globe. The T20 World Cup winning captain of the West Indies team is now all set to play in the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League. Last year, Sammy had led the Peshawar Zalmi to the title glory in the tournament. He is looking forward to yet another exciting edition with the Zalmis.
The finals of PSL 2017 was played in Pakistan and Darren Sammy was one fo the few overseas cricketers who had agreed to travel to Lahore for the tournament. In a recent video shared by the Peshawar Zalmi, Darren Sammy conceded that he loved to be a part of the team that brought cricket of international sorts back to Pakistan. Sammy was also a part of the World XI team that toured Pakistan last year.
“We have been there in the Gaddafi Stadium, it was an amazing atmosphere, the people embraced us. It’s has been an amazing journey, and to top it up with the trophy was an amazing experience,” Darren Sammy quoted in a video shared by the official social media handle of the Peshawar Zalmi.
“I was part of bringing in the International Cricket back to Pakistan that is something I will cherish, it shows Peshawar is a family and to see Chris Jordan, David Malan and Marlon Samuels was great,” he added.
Making Peshawar unstoppable
Clearly, Sammy has now set his sights on a successful campaign with the Zalmis this year as well. He remarked that he has told the boys to play to their fullest potentials and they will win the tournament again. He warned the oppositions quoting that the Yellow Army is coming their way.
“I always tell the guys, if we play the brunt of cricket that Peshawar knows how to play we are going to be unstoppable. We have to control what we can in the dressing room and make sure we prepare right and we go out and execute right. We are not afraid of any opposition, but we respect every single team in the league. But once Peshawar stepped over the rope it is the ‘Yellow Army’ coming at you,” Sammy conceded.
