India ensured they took lead in the series after a washed out first ODI with an emphatic win in the 2nd game at the same venue, Port of Spain. Rain before the scheduled start resulted in the game being reduced to 43 overs a side but India managed to score 310/5 with their top order sparkling yet again. The home side never looked in an intent to chase the score except for a stroke-filled innings from Shai Hope. As a result, Windies ended up with 205 despite losing only 6 wickets and lost the game by a 105 runs margin.

2 – Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan pair became only the 2nd Indian partners to share century stands in three consecutive innings in ODIs. Rohit Sharma and Dhawan pair was the first one.
5 – Ajinkya Rahane is only the 5th Indian to score an ODI century in West Indies. He is the 4th player to score against Windies in West Indies and only the 2nd opener after Rahul Dravid to do so.
6 – Number of consecutive fifty-plus stands in ODIs between Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan. They are the 3rd Indian pair and the 10th overall with 6 or more consecutive fifty-plus stands in ODI format.
10 – Kuldeep Yadav is only the 10th Indian whose maiden ODI wicket came in the form of stumping. The last player to have done that was Ambati Rayudu in 2014.
12 – Number of fifty-plus scores for Virat Kohli in ODIs against Windies; the joint 2nd most by any player in Windies-India ODIs. Only Sachin Tendulkar (15) has more fifties in WI-IND ODIs.
13 – Innings taken by Shai Hope to complete 500 runs in ODIs; the joint fewest by any Windies player in this format. Phil Simmons and Clive Lloyd also took 13 innings for completing 500 ODI runs.
76 – Partnership average of Rahane and Dhawan pair in ODIs; the highest among the partners with 1500 and more runs in this format.
81 – Shai Hope’s 81 in this game is the 2nd highest individual score by a Windies wicketkeeper against India in ODIs. The highest is 96 by Denesh Ramdin in 2011 at Indore.
96 – Number of times India have posted 300+ totals in ODI format; the most by any team. They have gone past Australia who have 95 totals of 300+.
300 – This game was Yuvraj Singh’s 300th ODI match for India. He became the 5th Indian to feature in 300 ODIs for them.
3578 – Runs Shikhar Dhawan has scored in ODI format so far; the most by any Indian after playing 83 ODIs. Virat Kohli with 3341 runs has scored the 2nd most by any Indian in career’s first 83 ODIs.
6043 – Runs Virat Kohli has scored in ODIs while batting at No.3. He is the 4th player to score 6000 ODI runs at the position.
