India cruised to a comfortable 318-run victory in the first of the 2-match Test series against the Windies. The vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane played crucial knocks with the bat scoring 81 and 102 respectively to bail out India from early wickets. The pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami continued from where they left in Australia. Ishant claimed his 3rd 5-wicket haul in the Caribbean Islands while Bumrah took a 5-fer in his 4th consecutive Test tour.

0 – Number of bowlers with 30+ Test wickets in West Indies with a better bowling average (18.47) or a better bowling strike rate (37) than Ishant Sharma. The Indian pacer claimed 38 wickets across 8 Tests he played in the Caribbean Islands. Only Anil Kumble (45) and S Venkataraghavan (39) have picked up more Test wickets for India in Windies than the lanky pacer.
7 – India won each of their previous seven Test series against the Windies. If they win or draw the last Test match, they will extend their series winning streak to 8 against the Caribbean team.
23.88 – As many as 31 players batted 20 or more Test innings while batting in the top five since September 2017. However, KL Rahul is the only top-5 batsman with a batting average under 25 in this span. The Indian opener scored 645 runs in 28 innings at an average of 23.88. He scored a century and couple of fifties in those 28 innings.
27 – Virat Kohli is currently tied on 27 wins as Indian captain in Test cricket alongside MS Dhoni. If India wins the last Test as well, Kohli will become India’s most successful Test skipper.
31 – Shai Hope has batted 31 times in top five in Test cricket since the start of September 2017 without scoring a century. In this period, no player has batted as many times in top five as Hope without scoring a century. Ajinkya Rahane was 2nd on the list with 27 innings before his century in the 2nd innings of the Antigua Test.
60 – Ravichandran Ashwin has picked up 60 wickets against the Windies in only 11 Tests at an average of 21.85. With the bat, Ashwin amassed 552 runs in only 12 innings at an average of 50.18. He scored all his four centuries in Test cricket against the Windies. Ashwin stood as the player of the match in two out of four series he played against the West Indians in the longer format.
95 – Skipper Jason Holder needs seven more wickets for completing 100 Test wickets. Holder will become the 4th Windies player with 1500+ runs and 100+ wickets in Test cricket when he reaches the milestone.
194 – Number of wickets for Ravindra Jadeja in his 42-match Test career. Jadeja needs six wickets in the 2nd Test to become the 2nd fastest Indian and the fastest left-arm bowler in Test cricket to complete 200 wickets.
1987 – KL Rahul needs 13 more runs to complete 2000 runs in Test cricket. He also needs 104 runs for becoming the 10th Indian to amass 2000 Test runs as an opener.
