'Wish there was a coupon code for scoring a century' - Twitter targets Virat Kohli for posting advertisement amid poor form
Kohli posted the advertisement on social media a day after the India tour of England ended.
Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli is now the face of the health supplement ‘Wellman’, which is designed to “nourish and restore” the body and to stay mentally and physically at the top. He posted the advertisement on social media on July 18, Monday, but the fans were not impressed.
Kohli is going through his worst phase with the bat and the England tour further extended his miseries with the bat as he left without a single score of above 20 in the entire series. Meanwhile, the fans have shown their disappointment with Kohli and also targeted the Indian superstar for engaging in advertisements.
Life is non-stop, so be unstoppable: Kohli
Kohli posted a 21-second video clip of the advertisement on Twitter. “We don’t let the pressures of the game change us, we change the game instead. We are Wellman. Wellman vitamins are designed exclusively to suit lifestyle needs of men at every stage of life. Life is non-stop, so be unstoppable. Use coupon code ‘NONSTOP’ and claim your Wellman at a very special price from me,” he said in the promo.
In 2022, Kohli has scored 493 runs in 20 innings across all three formats at an average of 24.65, with four fifties and a top score of 79. It has been his worst calendar year in terms of batting average, with his previous lowest being 31.80 in 2008, which was his debut year. Kohli has now gone 79 innings and over two years across formats without scoring a century for India, making it the longest streak without centuries in his career.
The cricketing fraternity has been divided with their views on Kohli, as several people think he should be dropped from the team due to his prolonged poor form with the bat, while several others think it is only a phase for the former India captain, and that he would be back and flying again shortly. Kohli has been rested from the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies.
