The prestigious Women's Asia Cup stands as a pinnacle in the realm of women's cricket within Asia. Governed by the Asian Cricket Council, this tournament, featuring eight teams, has unfolded significantly since its inception in 2004.

Renowned for its competitive spirit, the Women's Asia Cup commands considerable appeal, showcasing high-calibre and intense cricket. The tournament typically adheres to a biennial schedule, notwithstanding its non-occurrence in 2010, 2014, and 2020. It features a group-stage format followed by fiercely contested knockout rounds. The grand event frequently graces prestigious and diverse cricket grounds across Asia, culminating in a succession of thrilling matches that ultimately determine the champion.

In the ongoing Women's Asia Cup 2024 edition, the format continues to captivate audiences with its rigorously intense scheduling. The competition features eight teams divided into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, leading to a climactic final. The tournament's grand finale is slated for July 28, 2024, with the host city, Dambulla, set to reverberate with cricketing fervour as it hosts the concluding showdown.

Reflecting on the current season, a total of 15 matches will be contested between July 19 and July 28. This schedule includes two semi-final matches on the same day, followed by the final a couple of days later. Except for the grand finale, every day is a double-header.

Looking back at the tournament's history, India Women have reigned supreme, clinching the title seven times. The only other team to win the trophy is Bangladesh Women, who triumphed in 2018. Former Indian captain, Mithali Raj, holding the record for the most runs (1127), and right-arm off-spinner, Shashikala Siriwardene, leading in the number of wickets taken (33).

The Women's Asia Cup 2024 promises to deliver more unforgettable moments and high-stakes cricket as teams battle for glory in this eminent tournament.
