The Infotainment of Cricket with CricTracker App
Since its inception in 2022, the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) has been one of the most of most thrilling and nail-biting affairs in women’s cricket. Since it's being played in the West Indies, the conditions there support the bowlers, which results in low-scoring affairs. When the entire world craves high-scoring affairs, WCPL has created its own fanbase that offers action-packed contests.
In the inaugural edition of the competition, Trinbago Knight Riders defeated Barbados Royals by ten runs in the final to clinch the throne. In the second season of the competition, Barbados managed to get the job done with an eight-run win over Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final. In short, all the teams have been extremely consistent with their performances so far as a thrilling 2024 season awaits.
The upcoming edition of the tournament will begin on August 22, with Barbados Royals taking on Guyana Amazon Warriors on the opening day. Trinbago Knight Riders will play their first game on the following day against the defending champions. Meanwhile, the top two teams of the league stage will qualify for the final, which will be played on August 30.
Interestingly, two Indian cricketers will be seen playing in the upcoming WCPL as Trinbago signed Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey. They have also signed Jhulan Goswami as the mentor of the team. She recently served Mumbai Indians women as their bowling coach in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
