Women's Caribbean Premier League 2024 Stats
The third edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League will begin on August 22. Defending champions Barbados Royals will be challenging Guyana Amazon Warriors in the opening game while the other team and 2022 champions Trinbago Knight Riders will be kicking off their campaign on the following day, that is, August 23 against the Hayley Matthews-led side.
Each franchise will be playing each other twice in a robin-robin format as the top two teams of the league will then go on to play the final, which is slated to take place on August 30. All the matches of the tournament will be hosted at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.
Meanwhile, CPL 2023’s leading run-scorer Sophie Devine decided to skip the upcoming edition of the tournament. She is currently part of the Birmingham Phoenix squad in The Women’s Hundred and after this, she will be taking a break before the away series against Australia.
The focus will be on the likes of Hayley Matthews, Deandra Dottin, Erin Burns, Jemimah Rodriguez and Meg Lanning among a few others. West Indies international Matthews hit 191 runs in five matches last edition and the 26-year-old will now hope to get better and help her team retain the crown.
The leading wicket-taker of CPL 2023, Shreyanka Patil too won’t be featuring in the tournament. The likes of Anisa Mohammed, Shabnim Ismail, Matthews and Burns will be key. Since the surface is expected to support the spinners, low-scoring games are expected in the tournament.
