Women's T20 Challenge 2020: BCCI announces Jio as title sponsor for the tournament
Supernovas and Velocity are set to lock horns in the tournament opener.
The third edition of the Women’s T20 Challenge is set to be played on from November 4 in Sharjah. Three teams namely, Velocity, Trailblazers and Supernovas, will fight it out for the ultimate trophy alongside the playoffs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Meanwhile, the BCCI has announced Jio as the title sponsor for the Women’s T20 Challenge.
This is a historic moment as the BCCI has signed a sponsor exclusively for the Women’s matches. Moreover, this partnership will also have the support of Reliance Foundation Education and Sports For All (RF ESA). The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was delighted after the announcement and also hoped that the tournament inspires young girls in the country to take up the sport.
“As BCCI grows the game of cricket across all formats, one key area of focus has been to grow the women’s game. We hope the Jio Women’s T20 Challenge will inspire more young girls to take up the sport and give parents the confidence that playing cricket is a great career opportunity for their daughters,” he said according to the BCCI Press Release.

Meanwhile, Nita Ambani, the Founder & Chairperson Reliance Foundation, was happy to offer support to Women’s cricket in India. She also congratulated BCCI for organising such a wonderful tournament over the last couple of years. Even with the uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the board has made all the efforts to organise Women’s T20 Challenge.

The first match of the tournament is set to be played between Supernovas and Velocity on November 4.
