Women's T20I Tri-Series: Match 1, India vs Australia – Statistical Highlights

Australia Women remain unbeaten in their tour of India as they defeated the home team for the 4th consecutive time with a 6-wicket win in the Tri-Series opener. Indian openers made a steady start with a 72-run partnership for the first wicket in 9.3 overs. Smriti Mandhana made a quickfire 41-ball 67 before they lost three wickets for just one run. Anuja Patil’s 21-ball 35 pushed India’s total to 152/5 in the 20 overs. Beth Mooney’s 32-ball 45, Ellyse Villani’s 39 and Meg Lanning’s unbeaten 35 saw the Aussies chasing down the target in 18.1 overs.

All the stats and numbers that were recorded during the first game of the Triangular T20I series:

30 – Balls needed for Smriti Mandhana for completing her fifty in this game. This is the fastest fifty for India Women in the T20I format. Among the known fifties, Mithali Raj’s 36-ball fifty against Sri Lanka in the 2010 WT20 game is the previous quickest for India in this format.

She scored a 47-ball 67 against the Lankans in the 2014 T20I which could be quicker than her 36-ball effort but more than 30 deliveries. The balls needed for the milestones of the specified game are not known.


152/5 – India Women’s total of 152/5 is their highest total against Australia in the T20I format. Their previous highest score against them was 141/5 in the 2016 Adelaide game. Australia Women’s total of 156/4 in reply is their highest T20I total against India. They made 151/2 in the 2012 T20I game in Vishakhapatnam.


153 – Australia Women’s run chase of 153 in this game is their highest in the T20I format. They chased down 152 against England in the 200 Taunton T20I game. This is also the highest successful chase against India Women in the T20I format. Windies chased down 151 against India Women in the 2016 Vijayawada T20I.


163.41 – Smriti Mandhana’s batting strike-rate during his 41-ball 67 in this game. This is the highest batting S/R for an Indian in a Women’s T20I inning. (Min: 40+ runs) Mithali Raj scored 67 off 47 balls at an S/R of 142.55 against Sri Lanka in 2014. Mandhana’s fifty is also the first in the 29 T20I fifties scored by an Indian Women that had an S/R over 145.


308 – The match aggregate of 308 is the highest in a Women’s T20I game in Asia. The previous most were 304 runs during the Australia and Ireland game in the 2014 WT20 game and also in the India-Windies T20I in Vijayawada in 2016.


2016 – For the first time in ten T20I games, Australia Women delivered a maiden in the opposition’s first over. Mithali Raj played out the first over bowled by Megan Schutt for a maiden.
