England right-handed batter Natalie Sciver had a narrow escape in the game against the Women in Blue in the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup. Indian veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami’s delivery viciously nipped back and found the inside edge of the batter as she tried to flick it. The ball then deflected back onto stumps, but the bails remained intact, giving Sciver a second chance at the crease.

The event occurred in the fifth over of England’s innings. To note, the 29-year-old smashed the first ball that she faced in the match for a boundary. However, Jhulan came back strong after being hit for the boundary. The next two balls were dots before the veteran pacer nearly got the prized wicket of Natalie on the fourth ball.

However, Sciver maintained her dominance in the competition after she clubbed the fifth ball of the over for another four with England scoring eight runs in the over.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, India failed to put up a show as they did in their last game against the women in the maroon. Tight lengths from the English pacers put the brakes on the scoring rate. The women in blue while trying to break free kept losing wickets and once were 28/3. The dangerous duo of Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur tried to play the saviors role yet again. However, both of them failed to replicate their performances as India bundled out for 134 runs.  England’s Charlotte Dean scalped four wickets.
