After two big wins at the start of the 2018 Women’s World T20, Australia face New Zealand in their third game where they will want to seal their semi-final spot. New Zealand started off the tournament with a 34-run defeat against India. If the White Ferns lose against Australia as well, they will be out of the final four race unless Ireland surprise India. Both the teams have issues playing on the slow pitches and their plans could backfire when they lock horns in the night game at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Both Australia and New Zealand have some of the top T20 players in their ranks. Alyssa Healy’s form in this tournament has been one of the major driving factors for Australia. Jess Jonassen’s recovery from injury will boost the Southern Stars’ chances in the tournament. She could play her first game replacing Georgia Wareham or Sophie Molineux. New Zealand, on the other hand, will be looking to tighten their bowling following a poor show against India which cost them the game.

Match Details:

The 10th match of the Women’s World T20 will be played between Australia and New Zealand at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

The match starts at 8:00 PM local time (12:00 AM GMT – Next Day) (5:30 AM IST – Next Day).

Last five completed T20I matches:

Australia: W, W, W, W, W.

New Zealand: L, L, L, L, L.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The game between Australia and New Zealand will be played on the 3rd pitch which is going to be used at the Providence Stadium. The pitch gets slower at this venue as witnessed during the two match days in this tournament. Pakistan’s match against Ireland will be played prior to this game and team chasing could find it tough to get going under the lights.

Squads:

Australia:

Meg Lanning (C), Rachael Haynes, Nicole Bolton, Ashleigh Gardner, Alyssa Healy, Delissa Kimmince, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Elyse Villani, Tayla Vlaeminck, Georgia Wareham, Nicola Carey, Jess Jonassen.

New Zealand:

Amy Satterthwaite (c), Suzie Bates, Bernadine Bezuidenhout, Sophie Devine, KE Ebrahim, Maddy Green, Holly Huddleston, Hayley Jensen, Leigh Kasperek, Amelia Kerr, Katey Martin, Lea Tahuhu, Jess Watkin, Anna Peterson, Hannah Rowe.

Probable XI:

Australia:

Meg Lanning (C), Beth Mooney, Alyssa Healy (wk), Ashleigh Gardner, Elyse Villani, Rachael Haynes, Ellyse Perry, Delissa Kimmince, Sophie Molineux, Megan Schutt, Georgia Wareham/Jess Jonassen.

New Zealand:

Amy Satterthwaite (C), Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Maddy Green, Katey Martin (wk), Bernadine Bezuidenhout/Anna Peterson, Holly Huddleston/Hayley Jensen, Leigh Kasperek, Amelia Kerr, Lea Tahuhu, Jess Watkin.

Power Picks:

Sophie Molineux went wicketless in the previous two matches but could well do the damage on her day. She claimed four wickets during the home T20I series against the New Zealand team. Lea Tahuhu and Leigh Kasperek are must-haves in the fantasy eleven as the duo can be effective irrespective of their team’s performance. Despite Harmanpreet’s carnage in the last game, both the bowlers conceded at less than seven an over.

Best Playing XI:

Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Suzie Bates, Maddy Green, Ashleigh Gardner, Sophie Devine, Sophie Molineux, Megan Schutt, Leigh Kasperek, Lea Tahuhu, Georgia Wareham/Jess Jonassen.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Alyssa Healy looks a mandatory multiplier option considering her recent form. Sophie Devine’s all-round skills make her a must for one of the multiplier options as well. Other than these two, Suzie Bates and Meg Lanning deserve a go considering their consistency. Australia have not dropped a hint about how they will be using Ashleigh Gardner making her a risky option as a captain or vice-captain.

Expert Advice:

Some of the reliable players in both the teams are given high price tags which ate making things tough to balance. In such a case, it is suggested to ignore top players who might have a lesser impact in the game i.e. assured of bowling fewer overs and batting down the order.

Probable Winners:

Australia might edge past New Zealand and continue their winning streak in the T20I format.
