'Workout Done' - Suresh Raina posts motivational video as he sweats it out despite IPL 2022 snub
Suresh Raina, who did not find a team in IPL 2022 mega auction, posted a video of him working out tirelessly
Despite being one of the most accomplished batters in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, dashing southpaw Suresh Raina surprisingly went unsold at the mega auction of IPL 2022. Even though he came to the two-day mega auction in Bengaluru at a base price of Rs 2 crore last month, no franchise, including his old team and defending champions Chennai Super Kings, showed faith in him.
However, the snub has not stopped the 35-year-old from keeping in shape. He was lately seen giving a lot of importance to fitness supposedly with the hope of prolonging his illustrious cricketing career. The batter no longer plays international cricket, having announced his retirement just moments after good friend MS Dhoni had called it a day from the international arena on August 15, 2020.
Suresh Raina shares a video of his intense workout session
Taking to Instagram, Raina posted a video of his intense workout session where he can be seen cycling and doing upper as well as lower body exercises at his residence. After sweating it out during what was a self-training session, Suresh Raina captioned the video as “Workout Done. Nothing better than ending the week with an intense workout session”.
While the Uttar Pradesh cricketer is no longer active at the highest level, it seems that he still has some more years of cricket left in him as he toils hard to make a statement despite the IPL 2022 snub. After England opener Jason Roy backed out from participating in this year’s marquee tournament to spend time with his family, it was rumored that Raina was one of the replacement options for the explosive batter in Gujarat Titans.
Nonetheless, sources close to the development reportedly clarified that Raina was never in the Titans’ scheme of things in the first place as Roy’s replacement option.
