World Cup 2019: 3 Teams that could miss out on a semi-final berth due to rain
Here is a list of three teams whose hopes of making it to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019's semi-finals might be affected by rain.
2. Pakistan
The current Pakistani team might not have the same zeal as the one that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, but one can never predict what the green shirts will produce. After a humiliating defeat at the hands of West Indies in their first match, who would have thought that they will beat the favourites to win the trophy, England? But Sarfraz Ahmed’s achieved that, only to lose against Australia in their third game.
Their next game against Sri Lanka was one in which they were the favourites. But incessant rain meant an abandoned match without a ball being bowled. It looks like the shame of the decade, the precipitation chance of 59% means the heavyweight India-Pakistan clash might be hampered. That’s not the end of misery for Pakistan.
Their match against South Africa is threatened by 58% precipitation chance, whereas with 80% chances of rain, their match against bottom-dwellers Afghanistan looks certain to be abandoned. With this, fans can expect to witness full 100 overs only in the matches against Bangladesh and New Zealand.
