4) Shannon Gabriel (Windies)
The fast-bowler from Trinidad and Tobago can tear apart any batting line-up with his pace and bounce. Shannon Gabriel can generate ample movement with the new ball in his hand, and on helpful pitches, he can be a serious threat to the opposition. He has played 21 ODIs and has picked 29 wickets at an economy rate of 5.55. Gabriel can be their chief tormentor as the Windies selectors have picked an all-out pace attack for England, and if they click together other teams are going to be in a spot of bother.
The speedster made his debut a couple of years ago in a tri-series, and straightaway he showed his wicket-taking abilities by scalping 6 wickets in 3 matches. As he is an injury prone player, the board has always saved him for the red-ball cricket. The Holder-led side has picked Gabriel for the World Cup as he can form a lethal pair with Kemar Roach which was on show in the Test series against England played earlier in the year.
At 31, he is surely going to lose his pace in the coming years, and that’s why it might be his final hurrah in an event like World Cup.
