South Africa has had an interesting 24 months leading into World Cup 2019 as they had to deal with the retirement of AB de Villiers but Dale Steyn’s return strengthened their pace attack. While the batting seemed to be getting loose in the absence of ABD and Hashim Amla’s form, the skipper Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock scored big runs ahead of the ICC event in England. The Proteas are in the contention to bag the title for the first time like they have been in the past.

All the major approaching milestones for the South African players ahead of the CWC 2019:

194JP Duminy has represented South Africa in 194 ODI matches thus far. Duminy will be the 8th player to feature in 200+ ODIs for South Africa if he plays six more matches at the World event. The 2nd game that Imran Tahir features in the World Cup will be the leg-spinner’s 100th ODI appearance.


196 – Dale Steyn has 194 wickets in the ODI format to his name including two wickets for Africa XI against Asia XI during his debut in 2005. He needs eight more wickets to become the 5th player to claim 200+ ODI wickets for the Proteas.


696 – Number of wickets Dale Steyn has picked across all formats in International cricket. He needs four more wickets to become the 14th player in the world with 700+ International wickets.

Out of the 696 wickets, Steyn picked up 694 for South Africa. Only Shaun Pollock (823) have bagged 700+ International wickets for the Saffers thus far.


2922 – David Miller has amassed 2922 runs in ODI format going into the World Cup. The middle-order batsman needs 78 more runs to complete 3000 ODI runs.


4602 – De Kock has a possible chance of completing 5000 runs in ODI cricket having scored 4602 runs in 106 innings thus far. If he scores those 398 runs in the next seven innings, the keeper-batsman will become the 2nd fastest to 5000 ODI runs.


7910 – Runs Hashim Amla has scored in his ODI career till date. He needs 90 more runs to become the 4th South African to have amassed 8000 ODI runs. Amla needs to score those 90 runs in the next three innings to beat Virat Kohli’s existing fastest record as he got there in 175 innings.


7887 – De Kock has 7887 runs across all formats for South Africa in International cricket. He needs 113 more runs to get it to 8000 International runs for the Proteas. Aiden Markram also needs 121 runs to complete 2000 International runs having scored 1879 runs till date.
