Jonny Bairstow has not really had the best of outings in the World Cup 2019 and it has shown on the team’s performance as England are holding on to their chances of semi-final qualifications by a thread. Bairstow did produce a couple of recognizable knocks with a 90 and 51 but that goes with two ducks to his name. He took potshots at the pitches prepared for England games, given that they have lost two matches back-to-back.
Their two upcoming and must-win matches are now against India on June 30 and then they face New Zealand, both teams have not lost to England in World Cups since the last 27 years. They have lost three matches at the moment and Bairstow criticized the pitches that have been rolled out for the hosts so far in the tournament as they have not been to his liking.
“The pitches that we’ve been playing on the last two years are surely the pitches we [should] be playing on in a World Cup. So, I don’t know why they’ve changed. That wasn’t a typical Oval wicket we played South Africa on in the opening game. It wasn’t a typical Trent Bridge wicket we played Pakistan on,” he was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
Damien Martyn asks Bairstow to have dinner with Birmingham curator
Former Australia cricketer Damien Martyn decided to take a cheeky dig at Bairstow’s complaint about the pitches. Martyn felt that Bairstow still yearns for flat tracks on which England’s slam-bang approach of batting has done wonders for them in the last few years.
Let’s hope Jonny Bairstow is having dinner with the curator of the pitch at the next venue for England. Wouldn’t want it not up to his standard.. #flattrack #easyruns #please #cricket pic.twitter.com/zavalt91jb

England’s losses to Pakistan and Australia have put their tournament in jeopardy as the other teams have done well and they have an uphill task of making it into the semi-finals. If they lose even one of their remaining two matches, they will be pretty much out of the tournament.
