World Cup 2019: David Warner gifted his Man of the Match award to a young fan in the stadium
Warner has won the heart of the fans with this gesture.
Australia won a close game against Pakistan in Taunton on Wednesday on the back of a scintillating ton from David Warner. The left-hander scored his first century after the comeback and no wonder was the hero of the day for his team. He has been ever so consistent after returning to the national side registering his third fifty-plus score in four outings.
The 12-month ban period has taken a lot out of Warner it seems and the southpaw looks determined to win the trust back of the fans. He was awarded the Man of the Match for his 107-run knock and was elated over winning the game for his team. Moreover, the 32-year-old, while going back to the dressing room gifted his award to a young fan in the stands.
He gave his autograph on the national flag to the fan as well before gifting him the award. The youngster was extremely elated over getting the special gift from his favourite cricketer. “I really feel awesome. We were just waving the flag and he just came over and gave it to me, the young fan said while speaking to ICC Digital Insider Zainab Abbas.
The heartfelt gesture from David Warner has left the fans adoring him. Surely, the man is on a mission to win the trust of the fans and also the team.

Australia keep their nerve
As far as the match is concerned, Australia could only post 307 runs on the board despite being strongly placed at 223/2 at one stage. Mohammad Amir picked his maiden five-wicket haul to return with the magical figures of 5/30 to bring his team back in the match. However, Pakistan batsmen floundered in the chase. They were also perfectly placed at 136/2 in the chase but the middle-order stumbled big time to leave the team reeling at 160/6.
In the end, despite Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz’s heroics, the Men in Green could only reach 266 runs losing the match by 41 runs.
