Dhoni was criticised for playing with no intent against England.
Ever since India lost to England, the experts and the fans are busy questioning MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav‘s intent in the last five overs of the chase. Rather than praising England for their brilliant show, many criticised MS Dhoni for not being able to up the ante.
After the match, the images of the former India captain spitting blood while batting went viral and there were speculations made over the same. It went unnoticed during his slow-paced innings in Birmingham but the veteran played with some pain.
MS Dhoni was hit on the thumb during the wicket-keeping and then was again hit on the same thumb when one of the balls rose awkwardly at him. He was in pain after being hit and sucked the thumb and was clicked while spitting the blood out.
The images of the same went viral on social media and the fans were in awe of MS Dhoni for his dedication and commitment towards the game not for the first time.
Dhoni against Bangladesh and England
MS Dhoni remained unbeaten on 41 off 32 deliveries against England as India lost the game by five wickets. A similar situation occurred against Bangladesh as well. But this time they were batting first and the 37-year-old scored 35 runs off 33 deliveries and was again at the helm of all the criticism. However, in the context of the game, the knock proved to be crucial in the end.
India posted 314 runs in their 50 overs in response to which Bangladesh fought superbly and just fell 28 runs short of the target. Mohammad Saifuddin batted well with the tail and took his team close. This is where MS Dhoni’s runs were important as India played full 50 overs because of him and eventually managed to win the game sealing their place in the knockouts.
