World Cup 2019: Gulbadin Naib declines to dance, gets a hilarious slap from Mohammad Shahzad

When it comes to celebrations, Afghanistan players definitely know a thing or two about it. The players have never shied away from expressing their emotions on the field. And it would not be entirely wrong to say that their wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad remains in the spotlight more often than not during these celebrations. Most of the Afghanistan players have made it big in the game after experiencing unimaginable hardship during their early days.

Perhaps this is the reason why the players never leave a chance to celebrate. And the Afghanistan stars are in a celebratory mood even after their poor start to the World Cup. They have started their tournament with a crushing loss at the hands of Australia. Batting first, Afghanistan managed just 207. In reply, Australia chased down the total inside 35 overs with 7 wickets in hand. However, the heavy defeat has not dampened Afghanistan’s spirits as their star trio — Mohammad Shahzad, Rashid Khan and Gulbadin Naib took part in a fun session.

The trio had to dance to a Bollywood number and as expected Shahzad led the way. Standing between Rashid and Naib, Shahzad was shaking his legs while Rashid was also doing his best to keep up. However, Naib was a bit shy to dance and it soon caught Shahzad’s eyes. The wicketkeeper-batsman then hilariously walked towards Naib and hilariously slapped him for not dancing.

Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan

Afghanistan, meanwhile, lost their second consecutive game in the World Cup with Sri Lanka beating them by 34 runs (DLS method) in a low-scoring thriller. Afghanistan was looking primed to win the contest after bowling out Sri Lanka for just 201. Put in to bat first, Sri Lanka were well placed at 144 for 1 before Mohammad Nabi derailed their innings by taking three wickets inside an over. Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals from thereon and eventually managed a modest total of 201 in a rain-affected tie.

Afghanistan had to chase down 187 runs in 41 overs. However, they started poorly and lost 5 wickets for just 57 runs. Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran added 64 runs for the sixth wicket but soon departed and Afghanistan was all out for 152.
