World Cup 2019: ICC allows Sri Lanka to continue wearing their yellow kit as it proves lucky for them
Sri Lanka need to win all their three remaining matches and then hope that Bangladesh and Pakistan lose a few on their way.
The Sri Lankan team has shown amazing survival instincts in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 after they registered their second win and got to 6 points after they defeated England in the last encounter to boost their chances of going into the semi-finals. As per ICC rules, visiting teams have to wear a different coloured jersey in case of a clash during televised tournaments.
Sri Lanka was seen wearing a yellow colour dominated kit when they were playing as the visiting team against Afghanistan and England, also the two matches that they have won in the tournament so far. The Sri Lankan team seems to take a liking to the yellow kit and has asked the ICC permission to keep wearing it.
ICC grants Sri Lanka permission to wear yellow jersey
Sri Lankan team management asked permission from International Cricket Council (ICC) to continue wearing their away jersey in the three remaining matches, given that they have won matches wearing the same. “We approved Sri Lanka’s request to carry on wearing yellow as the color. Every team chose an alternate color prior to the start of the tournament,” an ICC spokesman said.
Dimuth Karunaratne, the Sri Lankan captain is their leading run scorer with 181 runs to his name including two half-centuries and the best score of 97, while Kusal Perera is the only other batsman to cross 100 runs with 161 to his name with two fifties and the best score of 78. As for the bowling, Lasith Malinga has by far been the best bowler for them with 8 wickets, and he picked four of them against England
The 1996 World Champions have three matches to go now against South Africa, West Indies, and India. South Africa cannot reach the semi-finals having lost to Pakistan at Lord’s. West Indies face India next on June 27 and they too are out of the race for semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Team India has four games to go and have to win at least two of them to qualify for the knockout stages. Sri Lanka need to win all their three remaining matches and then hope that Bangladesh and Pakistan lose a few on their way.
