Team India is the only team to not get their campaign underway yet in the ongoing World Cup in England and Wales. They will be facing South Africa on June 5 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton and are gearing up currently at the venue for the clash. However, when the Indian players were training on Monday, the dope control official took the ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the doping test.
This might surprise many but according to the rules, under every ICC event, each Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) player has to undergo a doping test. This test is conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). There were a total of two sets of the test. In the first round, Bumrah was taken for the urine test and then exactly after 45 minutes, his blood sample was taken.
The BCCI source also confirmed the news about Jasprit Bumrah being taken for the doping test according to Hindustan Times. However, the source didn’t reveal whether any other player in India’s World Cup squad is scheduled to undergo the test.
Bumrah – India’s main bet
Jasprit Bumrah is extremely crucial for India in the ongoing mega event in England. He is coming off an excellent IPL and is already regarded as one of the best bowlers in the world. This is his first World Cup and the second ICC event and will be itching to get on the field for the first game against South Africa.
India will be confident going into the encounter as they’ve had a lid over the Proteas in the recent fixtures. Last year when the Men in Blue toured South Africa, they defeated the home side by 5-1 in a six-match ODI series and will be looking to dominate the proceedings again. India’s pace attack is looking ominous this time and Jasprit Bumrah will be the leader of the attack.
